Guksanseowon Confucian Academy

This Confucian academy was established in 1980 by the descendants of the Goseong Lee clan to enshrine Bangchon Yi Dang (1567–1644), the 8th-generation descendant of Haengchon Yi Am (1297–1364). Yi Dang was originally enshrined at Gugyeseowon in Cheongju along with Donggo Yi Jun-gyeong, Nakjae Seo Sa-won, Suam Park Ji-hwa, and Seogye Yi Deuk-yun, but was removed due to the Daewongun's decree abolishing private academies. Later, the Goseong Lee clan built Gukilsa in Oegok-ri, Donghae-myeon, where they lived together, to enshrine him. When the building became old and dilapidated, descendants Yi Gyeong-cheol and Yi Won-su oversaw its reconstruction in 1980, resulting in a larger scale than before. The academy complex includes a 4-kan lecture hall, a 3-kan shrine, a 3-kan gate corridor, and auxiliary buildings such as a posa. The shrine, Gyeonguisa, has a gable roof structure with 3 kan in front and 1 kan on the side, while the lecture hall has a hip-and-gable roof with 4 kan in front and 2 kan on the side.
