Gwiamsa Shrine

Gwiamsa is a shrine built in 1922 to honor Yang Seong-ji (1414–1482). Yang Seong-ji was a civil official of the Joseon Dynasty, with the pen name Nuljae. He held various government posts such as Daesaheon (Inspector General) and Ijo Panseo (Minister of Personnel), and always studied practical policies for the nation. He advocated for the establishment of medical institutions in each region for the welfare of the people, emphasized the importance of Korea's unique customs, and demanded that the civil service examination be reformed to suit reality. He also opened Gwiamsasuk (a private school) to contribute to the education of future generations. In the shrine precincts, a monument called Nuljae Yang Seon-saeng Myobi (Monument of Master Yang, Nuljae) was erected, recording his achievements, and next to it, a turtle-shaped rock called Gwiam still remains. Nearby tourist attractions include Cheongpungsa Temple, Geumsan Ginseng Valley Auto Camping Site, Geumgang Nongbawoo Village, Deoksansa Temple, and the Geumsan Cheonnae-ri·Yonghwa-ri Dolmens.
