Maekdo Ecological Park is a naturally formed riverside area from the Nakdonggang Estuary Bank to the airport ramp, and is designated as Natural Monument No. 179 (Migratory Bird Habitat) of the Nakdonggang Estuary. This area was historically used as agricultural land for rice farming and is still managed as a feeding and resting place for winter migratory birds. In addition to consideration for winter migratory birds, the park features reed fields, a lotus complex, and an aquatic plant garden to provide sights for citizens, along with various sports and rest facilities.
