Budae-jjigae (Army Stew) originated from 'kkulkkul-i-juk,' a dish made by citizens suffering from food shortages right after the Korean War, who scavenged leftover meat from U.S. military base waste disposal sites and boiled it in a steel drum. However, it has now undergone a generational shift to become a nutritious stew filled with sausages, ham, and various toppings, earning nationwide fame. Among them, Uijeongbu's budae-jjigae is recognized for its taste, often called 'Uijeongbu Jjigae,' and one of the most representative restaurants is Boyoung Restaurant.
