Euljiro Nogari Alley

In the alley leading to Exit 4 of Euljiro 3-ga Station, the area is bustling every night with people drinking beer and eating nogari (dried pollack) at makeshift tables. Under dazzling lights, plastic tables are set up, filled with hundreds of customers. Euljiro Nogari Alley began in November 1980 with the first nogari beer bar, Eulji OB Bear. Euljiro is the largest printing district in the country, where all books and printed materials distributed in Korea were circulated. As a result, many printing workers worked overnight to meet deadlines, and after their shifts, they would unwind by drinking cold draft beer with nogari on their way home. Beer bars gradually opened one by one, eventually forming Nogari Draft Beer Alley. When the alley first formed, nogari was grilled over briquette fires and served with gochujang (red chili paste). Today, many shops in Euljiro Nogari Alley offer not only nogari but also various snacks like chicken, stews, and fried foods, similar to beer bars. The main menu items remain nogari and draft beer.
