서울특별시 종로구 종로 157 (훈정동)

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Jongmyo is a shrine where the ancestral tablets of kings and queens of the Joseon Dynasty, as well as those posthumously honored, are enshrined. Recognized for its cultural and architectural value, Jongmyo was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in December 1995 following a decision at the regular meeting of the World Heritage Committee. Within the park, a well has been restored where successive kings of the Joseon Dynasty are said to have drunk water when entering and leaving Jongmyo, and there is a statue of Yi Sang-jae (Wolnam) along with a green area equipped with convenience facilities. Jongmyo Square Park, covering an area of 39,669㎡ (about 12,000 pyeong) in front of Jongmyo and equipped with parking facilities, is widely used as a resting place for Seoul citizens. 서울특별시 종로구 종로 157 (훈정동)
