Why travelers stop here
Lee Jae-myeong's Site of Patriotic Deed is where young patriot Lee Jae-myeong attempted to assassinate pro-Japanese traitor Lee Wan-yong on December 22, 1909. When the traitor Lee Wan-yong passed by arrogantly in a rickshaw, Lee Jae-myeong rushed at him with a dagger, stabbing him in the waist. While shouting for Korean independence, he was caught after being wounded in the lower body by the swords of the Japanese police guarding him, and he died on September 30, 1910. To honor patriot Lee Jae-myeong, the Seoul Metropolitan Government installed a commemorative stone.
