Memory of the Past (Japanese Military Comfort Women)

The Memory of the Past (Japanese Military Comfort Women) is a space located on Namsan in Yejang-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, and opened in 2016. The Memory of the Past is a memorial park honoring the grandmothers who were victims of the Japanese military comfort women system, created around records of their testimonies, damage records, and the atrocities of Japanese imperialism, embodying the meanings of human rights and peace. There is a regular guided tour program for the Memory of the Past and the Memorial Stone, allowing visitors to walk along the Namsan Dulle-gil trail connecting the Namsan Japanese Military Comfort Women Memorial Stone (Solidarity for Justice) and the Memory of the Past, gaining a correct understanding of the Japanese military comfort women issue, and engaging in level-appropriate experiential activities and discussions on human rights and peace with professional instructors.
