Destination briefing
Why travelers stop here
Daeo Bookstore, which opened in 1951, is the oldest bookstore in Seoul, having remained in the same location. Recently, it has been renovated into a cultural space combined with a cafe, where visitors can leisurely enjoy coffee while looking out at the courtyard, or enjoy exhibitions and performances. If you only wish to view the space, you can purchase a souvenir postcard set. Looking closely at the books that exude the passage of time and the items bearing traces of use feels refreshingly new. The outdoor area is arranged with old items such as photos, a radio, books, a jangdokdae (traditional Korean jar stand), a piano, and tables, offering the fun of examining each item. Additionally, this place was the filming location for the jacket photo of IU's album 'Flower Bookmark' released in 2014, where fans also spend time taking photos.
