Baegakmaru

This is the name for the summit of Bukaksan Mountain. At an elevation of 342 meters above sea level, it is not numerically very high, but it is a peak that stands out prominently in the area. It embraces Gyeongbokgung Palace and the Blue House in its bosom, offering a spectacular open view overlooking the center of Seoul at a glance. When Hanyangdoseong (Seoul City Wall) was first built in 1396, a total of 97 construction sections were divided, and each section was named after a character from the Thousand Character Classic. At that time, Baegakmaru, as the starting point of the wall, corresponded to the character 'Cheon'. Being the highest point of Hanyangdoseong, it provides a panoramic view of the long stretch of the city wall spanning across Bugaksan and Inwangsan Mountains. Visitors can enjoy a special time appreciating each peak of Bukhansan Mountain in order, from Jokduribong to Hyangnobong, Bibong, Seunggabong, Munsubong, and Hyeongjebong.
