Destination briefing
Why travelers stop here
Hyojadong, an old neighborhood in Chuncheon, has been reborn as a Romantic Alley where culture and art blend together. This is the place where the story of filial son Ban Hui-eon from the reign of King Seonjo of Joseon is passed down, and the name Hyojadong originates from the Hyojamun Gate built to honor his filial piety. Through the 'Romantic Alley Project,' sculptures and murals depicting this tale have been created throughout the alley. There are also various attractions such as the 'Cloud Bread' character and cat sculptures, making it popular among family visitors. The 'Damjak-eun Library,' a three-story children's library located within the alley, has a structure where visitors remove their shoes before entering, providing a comfortable space for children to read books.
