In Seo-myeon, Chuncheon, there is a site considered one of the eight best geomantic locations in Korea, and at this site lies the tomb of General Shin Sung-gyeom. General Shin Sung-gyeom was a founding contributor of the Goryeo Dynasty and a loyal subject who chose death in place of King Taejo Wang Geon. King Taejo Wang Geon collected the headless body of General Shin Sung-gyeom and went to Chuncheon. This was because there was a burial site in Chuncheon that Buddhist monk Doseon had designated as a propitious location for King Taejo Wang Geon. King Taejo Wang Geon made a golden head for General Shin Sung-gyeom and buried it with the body, and created three burial mounds to prevent grave robbery.
