Why travelers stop here
The grave site of General Han Baek-rok is where General Han Baek-rok rests, and it has been designated as a cultural heritage material of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province. In front of General Han Baek-rok's grave, there is also the grave of his male servant, Deuk-chung. During the Imjin War, General Han Baek-rok died in battle at the young age of 38, and his body was recovered by his male servant, Deuk-chung. Deuk-chung carried General Han Baek-rok's body alone on a jigae (a traditional Korean A-frame carrier) from the South Sea to Chuncheon on foot and held a funeral. Moved by Deuk-chung's loyalty, the descendants of General Han Baek-rok created Deuk-chung's grave in front of General Han Baek-rok's grave after Deuk-chung died.
