Joyangnu Pavilion is a building located at 1 Jungang-ro, Chuncheon-si, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, in front of the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Office, and is designated as a Tangible Cultural Heritage of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province. It was built in 1646 together with Uibongmun Gate when Chuncheon magistrate Eom Hwang constructed the government office building Munsogak. King Gojong of Joseon designated Chuncheon as a refuge in times of crisis and ordered the construction of a detached palace, and accordingly, the first Chuncheon magistrate Kim Gi-seok began the work. In 1890, the second magistrate Min Du-ho expanded Munsogak and its附属 facilities, completing the detached palace. Joyangnu served as the gate pavilion of Munsogak, which was the king's sleeping quarters and office within the detached palace. Through the Japanese colonial period and wars, most of the Chuncheon detached palace was lost, and only Joyangnu and Uibongmun remain today. It was moved to Udusan Mountain in 1908, partially damaged during the Korean War, repaired in 1969, and restored to its current location in 2013. Joyangnu exhibits the typical style of government office buildings and holds great historical significance as the only remaining structure of the Chuncheon detached palace. The plaque is a reproduction of the Haeseo Cheonjamun calligraphy written by the famous calligrapher Jaha Shin Wi in the late Joseon period, using collected characters. The building has a hip-and-gable roof structure with three front bays and two side bays, and features a gate pavilion form with a triple gate installed below the pavilion.
