The National Gugak Museum is the only museum in Korea specializing in traditional Korean music, exhibiting various gugak artifacts and musical instruments. It opened in 1995. In addition to permanent exhibitions introducing the history and branches of Korean traditional music, diverse special exhibitions and events are held, including invited exhibitions of overseas music artifacts, exhibitions of research achievements on musical instruments by the National Gugak Center, and exhibitions commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Gugak Archive. The permanent exhibition hall, newly opened in 2019, emphasizes the listening function, showcasing specialized planning and pride as a music museum. At the Gugak Museum, visitors can experience and feel the beauty of music contained in the collected instruments, scores, music books, costume artifacts with all five senses.
